1. High precision

Including high static and dynamic accuracy, the main performance indicators include geometric accuracy, motion accuracy (positioning accuracy, repeated positioning accuracy), and resolution, such as spindle rotation accuracy, guide rail motion accuracy, indexing accuracy, etc. Currently, the spindle rotation accuracy of ultra precision lathes is mostly between 0.02 and 0.03 μ m. The straightness of the guide rail is 0.025/1000000, and the positioning accuracy is 0.013 μ m. The repeated positioning accuracy is 0.006 μ m. The feed resolution is 0.003 μ m. The indexing accuracy is 0.5 inches. Modern precision and ultra precision machine tools mostly use spindle and guide rails with liquid hydrostatic bearings or air hydrostatic bearings, precision ball screw transmission, equipped with micro motion workbenches and error compensation devices to achieve micro displacement. For high-speed rotating parts and components, dynamic balancing should be carried out.



2. High stiffness

Including static stiffness and dynamic stiffness, in addition to the stiffness of the components themselves, attention should also be paid to contact stiffness, while considering the stiffness of the process system composed of workpieces, machine tools, cutting tools, and fixtures. Although precision and ultra precision machine tools have low cutting forces, the deformation of machine tools under force will have a significant impact on accuracy.


3. High stability and retention

After transportation, storage, installation and debugging, the equipment should be able to maintain accuracy, anti-interference, and stable operation for a long time in the specified working environment during use. Therefore, processing equipment should have good wear resistance, vibration resistance, and thermal stability.


4. High automation

In order to ensure machining quality and reduce the influence of human factors, modern precision and ultra precision machine tools are equipped with precision CNC systems to achieve automatic control, or computer control is used to achieve adaptive control, optimization, etc. to ensure the production and processing requirements of parts.
